New HCC?

Everything a Hoosier Communication Coordinator needs to know!

Duties of HCC

  • Create a delegation that will attend IRHOC.  You will need to form a delegation…usually through application, obtain delegate information, fill out the registration forms, get a check cut to pay for the conference, hold delegation meetings, create a delegation banner, roll call, etc, find a delegation leader, and of course GET YOUR DELEGATION TO THE CONFERENCE!!!

  • Re-affiliate with IRHO.

  • Participate in IRHO activities such as fundraisers and being in attendance for meetings

  • Represent your school in the IRHO business meetings during IRHOC and FBM

  • Review the governing documents, proposed bids and proposed legislation before meetings so you are in the know as to what is going on and can participate in the discussions.
  • Post a monthly on the IRHO forum
  • Use the IRHO list serves to ask for opinions or suggestions on something, to keep in touch with each other, to respond to emails sent out by others on the list serve.

  • Maintain contact with the Directorship

  • Continue to communicate with the HCC’s and be the link between your host school and IRHO

  • Lastly HAVE FUN!!!

Relationship with School & IRHO

The relationship with each member school and IRHO is vital to our organization.  It is the foundation with which communication and leadership occur.  It is important for each HCC to be talking with their school about concerns or accomplishments and letting the other HCC's and Directorship know what is going one.  If you are sitting in a GA or E-Board meeting and someone is talking about a problem going on within your halls, you should think to yourself, "Hey, I should email the listserv and post to the Forum to see what other schools are doing about this problem!"

It's important to know that you are NOT alone in this.  This goes for your school as well.  Each school faces similar problems and has dealt with many of the same issues.  It is great to hear other ideas of how things were solved.  Also, it is great to hear about an awesome program or initiative that went on at your school.  It is important to provide both the positive and negative sides of what is happening at your school.

FBM and IRHOC are two great times to talk with people and build relationships that are sustained over the Forum, listserv and Facebook.  It is important to invest time each week to look up answers and find creative programs for your school!  IRHO is here as a communication link for everyone in Indiana!

HCC Points
The new point system is going to include the HCC’s school, not just the HCC.  The incentive is going to be an award at the end of the year.  It also will be used as eligibility for HCC of the year.  This will be used to give more motivation for the HCC and their school to become active in IRHO.

Conference attendance points:

  • Each delegate will receive 2 points

All the items listed, once completed, will be rewarded 5 points:

  • Replying to a monthly post, after first initial post

  • Posting on the IRHO Forum

  • Program presenting at conference (5 points per program)

  • Replying to Directorship e-mail if a response is needed

All the items listed, once completed, will be rewarded 10 points:

  • Monthly Reports

  • First to reply to Directorship e-mail if a response is needed

All the items listed, once completed, will be rewarded 20 points:

  • Writing/presenting a bid

  • Writing legislation (per school)

  • Write a newsletter article

  • FBM attendance

  • IRHOC attendance

  • Hosting FBM or IRHOC

After talking to the Directorship, we will have goals setup for each HCC and their school.  Hopefully by FBM each HCC will have 75 points.  In order to be eligible for HCC of the year, 200 points must be acquired.  We feel that this is a goal that can be easily reached by being an active member of IRHO.

We will let each school know their points acquired.  We also will let all of the schools know how is in the lead.  However, the points of the lead school will not be shared.  This, hopefully, will inspire some friendly competition to see who has the lead points.
